I am an artist that often goes by the online alias Gebba, and I primarily work in digital mediums. More specifically, my art mostly consists of digital drawings and paintings, with a few works in 3D and 2D animation. Regardless of the medium, I typically opt for a more sketchy, loose style for my strokes to give my art a more active appearance. In my paintings, I tend to use a lot of neutral, soft colors to emphasize the contrast between cold versus warm lighting and shadows for the most dynamic effect.
The complexity of the natural world and our relationship with it is something that I am deeply inspired by and has influenced my interests ever since I was young. I realized this relatively recently, and I want to put it into focus in my art. When I am out in nature–surrounded by its systems and history and knowing how I am just a small part of it–I stand in sheer awe. I have experienced similar feelings when playing some of my favorite video games or viewing certain paintings. Everything that I am inspired by tells a story that is greater than what the eye perceives, and this awe—the feeling that there is something more–is what I communicate in my work.
Initially, I started making art for myself. I drew for self-expression and discovery and that process has led me to a passion that I wanted to share with others. It first began with doodling my favorite Pokémon on my homework, then it quickly evolved into drawing my own worlds and scenarios influenced by my nerdy interests. In each one of my works, each pencil mark is a thought, every detail is a decision, and each piece of art is a story.
